Chapter LVII: The Sacred Books Pt.1: The Impu

Zoku spend nearly all night looking for the book of seals, this book would be a key to Inuhime's salvation. However some seals do have a time limit. If Inuhime's seal happened to be one of the them, then it would be too late to unseal and restore her powers. Only death would be her salvation.

Zoku smiled in triumph when she found the Impu. She immediately went to Kimiko and Inukimi. They finally had some hope that they could free Inuki from the blood curse. The blood of an inuyoukai, specifically, the Silver Inu, which was bless by the Kami to have reiki flowing through them. Most were carriers; the others were receivers, which were very rare. It was said that any miko with strong reiki could bore a full-blooded youkai, however, the miko must never be forced. She must be loved by the one who would impregnate her with his seed. If not, then the pup would become a hanyou. By having their blood blessed by the Kami, the Silver Inu would be able to resist purification that anyone with any amount of reiki. Only a Silver Inu with reiki would be able to purified one of their own as well as any other youkai.

Once she entered the library, she saw the two people, who she was looking for and then some. InuTaisho had Inukimi sitting on his lap. They were nuzzling each other. Kimiko was telling a folklore to the pups, Shippo, Rin, and her young ward. Sango and Miroku were talking and laughing quietly. Koga and Sesshomaru were discussing issues on their southern border. Ayame and Kagome were just sitting and listening quietly by their mates. Yes, Koga went ahead made Ayame his mate because the ceremony was in two long weeks. So, one could say that he grew impatient. Kagome or Sesshomaru hadn't told anyone that she's expecting. Kikyo and Inuyasha were sitting by Kimiko quietly talking to themselves while she was telling them the story.

Zoku cleared her throat. Everyone stopped what they were doing and starred at her.

She said, "Forgive me, but I'd finally found the Impu and the other sacred book. The Impu is the book of seals that has been passed down from generation to generation. I am sure you already knew that. If Kimiko and/or Inukimi would come and show me the seal spell. I will then find the seal reversal spell to restore Inuki's powers."

Kimiko was the one to show Zoku the seal spell. Zoku quirked her eye brow.

"Are you certain this is it?"

"Zoku, I maybe old, but my memories are still intact. So, yes, I am certain that this is the one."

"Forgive me, milady. I didn't mean to offend."

Kimiko waved a dismissal hand. "Hm, no offense taken."

Zoku went over the text of the Impu.

She thought, "It seemed so simple....*reads from the sacred book*.... 'To bind one's power, one must have a youki weapon connected to it's wielder. If one has no youki weapon then one must have either one's parents, siblings, or even progeny's youki weapons. Since the youki weapon was made by one's power, it would serve as a conductor between the wielder and the object called the hoju*. This sacred gem was once held sacred by Okuninushi*. There are many of these gems that one could seal more than one thousand youkai. The sealer must be careful of handling this gem because once its full of that one's power; it could serve as a weapon by one wielding it like one would wield its own weapon. It could overpower it's wielder unless the wielder is the one that had one's power sealed.'"

Zoku said, "Oh my Kami, What were they planning on doing with it, Inuki? Were they going to seal your family's powers as well as your own?"

Kimiko overheard her.

"They would be stupid if they tried to seal us as well."  When she spoke, Zoku was startled.

"Milady, I thought you left." Kimiko shook her head.

"No. I stayed just in case you may want to ask questions. After all, I was there at her sealing. I regretted not fighting it, but the court and her mother were working with each other. I was outnumbered and had no choice but to submit to my granddaughter as my alpha since InuTaisho had passed on. They could only sealed half of her power because half was all the gem could hold without breaking. If it did, her power would return to whence it came. If it would have break, it would set her power free from the hoju, but I could never find the gem. If you find the gem...."

"You reversed the seal. Correct?" Kimiko nodded.

"Who would know where to find the gem, milady?"

"The only person who would know is Inukimi. She was the one who cast the seal."

"So, she'll be the one to find the gem to unseal Inuki's youki." Kimiko nodded her head once again.

Zoku looked at Inukimi with an incredulous eye. Zoku was there with Inuhime when they were younger. She witnessed most terrible things what her mother and members of the counsel did to her best friend. Often times, she would sneak around the palace using her shadow powers. If she was suspicious of something, she would told Inuhime about it. Then she would either tell her brother or Kimiko. The only two people, other than Zoku, Gina, Naomi, and Nanami, who she trusted the most. Before coming to the Western Palace, Gina told her about Inukimi wanted to apologize and make amends to Inuhime.

Kimiko stood up and walked to her granddaughter. Inukimi noticed her.

"It's time Kimi."

Inukimi swallowed and then nodded. She looked at her mate, the ever handsome Great Dog General, InuTaisho.

"I'll return in a moment. I need to find something that could help our daughter."

InuTaisho nodded in understanding. He gave her a peck on her cheek.

"Come, Kimi. Time's running out!"

Inukimi nodded and stood up. Both her and her grandmother with Zoku in tow left the library.

After Inukimi, Kimiko, and Zoku left, Kagome noticed that Zoku left the Impu and another sacred book. Kagome got curious and stood out of Sesshomaru's lap, who was whimpering. Kagome looked at her mate. She giggled at him a little.

"I'll be right back."

Her mate nodded, but still kept his eye on her. Ever since, he found out that she was pupped, she didn't leave from his ever vigilant eyesight.

Kagome went where she saw the Impu. She noticed that there was a protective barrier surrounding it. The protective barrier could sense those who had malevolent or benevolent intentions, but if one was happened to be of some relation to the House of the Moon whether by blood or being mated. As long as one has their youki within them, they could used the book regardless of one's intentions. Kagome being not only mated, but pregnant with her Alpha's progeny.

At first, she hesitated, but then shook it off. When she touched the book, she noticed no zapping or anything that suggested that she was denied access to the book. She opened the book, where Zoku happened to mark the page that she was reading from. Obliviously, Kagome walked back to her mate and sat down on his lap.

Oh how Sesshomaru loved the scent of his mate. It's even better when she's pregnant. He couldn't help, but to smile. InuTaisho had noticed his son's smile. He had never really seen him smile. Smirking, yes, but never smiling. He also noticed something different with Kagome's aura. It glowing brighter than it had done before.

His beast spoke up. "Master, I believe we will be a grandfather soon."

"How do you know? Only the mate of said impregnated female could sense that she's pupped."

"Baka, look at her aura. It glowing brightly."

"Hm, you're right. I wonder why Sesshomaru hadn't gloated about it by now."

"Kagome is still in the early stages of her pregnancy. There's not even a bump to be seen, yet."

"Hm. I wonder if he'll tell me, if I asked him about it."

"It's doubtful. I will be surprised if he did granted us with such precious information."

"Me, too, my beast. Me, too."

InuTaisho stood up and walked towards his son and daughter-in-law. He, then, sat across from them waiting to be acknowledge. He didn't have to wait long.

"Father, do you need something?"

Sesshomaru gave a low warning growl towards his father. InuTaisho's eyebrow quirked. He chucked outwardly as he thought, "So, the pup is warning me. How cute? He should know that I won't harm my grandpup."

"Pup, cease your growling. I won't ever in a million years would harm my daughter-in-law and/or my grandpup."

Kagome overheard what InuTaisho said and looked at Sesshomaru with her eyebrows furrowed.

"Anata, why were you growling?"

"Sesshomaru, if I may.....*waiting until his son nodded his head*.... Kagome, Sesshomaru is driven by his protective instincts. I also know that you are expecting. Were you ever going to tell your father, Sesshomaru?"

InuTaisho gave a false pout as Sesshomaru rolled his eyes.

"Omae, what father said is true. I'll try to keep my beast contained. I won't make any promises. It's hard enough when the Ookami, his mate, Miroku, and Sango are here. My beast sees them as potential threats to you and our unborn pup.  It's natural that he would see the ookami as threats seeing them as not pack. Miroku still has reiki power, despite the fact that he no longer a practicing monk. As for Sango, she was a youkai taijiya*. I know that you know that they won't hurt you or our unborn pup, but he's driven by pure beastly instincts. Understand?"

"I know, Sango told me once about inuyoukai and their protective instincts. I apologize InuTaisho...."

"Taisho."

Kagome looked at her father-in-law. "You'll call  me either Taisho or what you called me before 'Inupapa'."

"Okay, I apologize Inupapa, but we wanted to tell everyone at once. Some of you probably had already noticed through my scent."

Inupapa shook his head. "No, not necessarily. Yes, your mate noticed because.... well, he's your mate. Sesshomaru would know if there were any changes in your scent or aura. However, someone other than him couldn't smell the difference. We could see it by your aura, though. So, what are you reading?"

"Oh, what Zoku left behind when she left with Kimiko and Inukimi."

Inupapa nodded. "I was reading where Zoku marked the page."

"Find something interesting, my dear."

"Yes, um... I'd noticed that there was a barrier surrounded the Impu. Why is that?"

Sesshomaru spoke. "Hm. This Impu has been handed down from father to son or father to daughter, whichever the case may be. The barrier is there because it protects it from other clans who would want to get their claws on it. There were several times in history that other lords would come solely because of trying to locate the Impu."

"Oh, this Impu's spells must be very powerful, huh?" She said that as she closed the Impu. She then handed it out to either Inupapa or Sesshomaru to take it from her.

"I got it, my dear daughter."

"Um, Will Koga, Ayame, Miroku, and Sango would have to leave now since I am expecting."

Sesshomaru nodded. "It would be best for them to go home. Not only them, but Kikyo as well, unless Inuyasha mate her. She would be seen as pack, then."

"What about Shippo, Rin, Zoku's ward, and Zoku herself?"

"My beast knows that the pups aren't a threat even Zoku's ward. Zoku is seen as pack a long time ago. Inuhime adopted her as her little sister. That's why I wouldn't ever bring any kind of harm to her. Zoku brought the same protection for her ward. Therefore, if they were under my sister's protection, they are too under my protection."

Kagome nodded in understanding. "Sesshomaru, I am getting tired. I am going to take a nap, okay."

He nodded as he stood up to follow her but Kagome shook her head 'no.'

She said, "I'll be fine, anata....*she looked at Inupapa*.... Besides, spend some quality time with your father."

He pouted through his eyes. Kagome chuckled. "Fine. I guess you could escort me to our bedroom....*she put her index finger on Sesshomaru's chest*....However, I want you to spend time with your father. I imagine that there's a lot to talk about.... or at least there should be."

She gave Sesshomaru a kiss before she turned to Inupapa to give him a peck on the cheek. Surprisingly, Sesshomaru didn't growl when she did it. Before she was waiting for her mate to leave the library, she gave her friends a peck on their cheeks. However, when she came to Koga, Inuyasha, and Miroku to give them the same gift that she had given to the women, Sesshomaru growled.

Inupapa chuckled at his son antics.

"You love her, don't you, my son?"

Sesshomaru nodded. "Yes, she's my life as well as her kit and Rin are."

Inupapa lifted his eyebrow. "Even her kit?"

"Kagome adopted the kit when she was traveling with Inuyasha. Shippo was an orphan kitsune until he met them. I admire Shippo's protectiveness to her."

Inupapa nodded in understanding. "I'll be going now, but I'll return later. I want to make sure she gets there safely."

Inupapa nodded again. "Then, I'll just wait here until you return, son."

Sesshomaru nodded then.

Once Sesshomaru and Kagome entered their bedroom, Kagome turned and faced her mate.

"Ok, Sesshomaru, I am here safe and sound. Now return to your father. I want to take a nap."

Sesshomau quirked one of his perfect, black eyebrows with some amusement in his eye.

"Are you ordering me around, omae?"

She sighed. "Anata, I don't want to keep you from your duties."

Sesshomaru stepped closer to her and wrapped his strong arms around her.

"Omae, you are not keeping me from my duties. Since father now knows that you are with pup. He knows that my beast would want to stay with you until you give birth to our pup. He and I wants to protect you from either intentional or unintentional dangers. If the counsel knew about your pregnancy, they, no doubt, will try to kill you or at least kill our pup. It would be the matter of time that they will find out. Besides...."

"I know. You're my alpha and soon-to-be father of our unborn pup."

Sesshomaru smirked. "You are correct, omae. I am your alpha. I know what's best for you; best for us; best for our pup; best for all our household; best for our land."

Kagome smiled as she shook her head. It wasn't in a negative, but only in amusement way. He was still his most arrogant, egotistical, pompous, handsome, sexy self, who she loved with all of her heart and soul.

"Fine, you may stay at least until I fall asleep. When I do, I want you to bond with your father. I know he hurt you when he took Izayoi as his mate before Inuyasha was born. He...."

Sesshomaru shook his head.

"Omae, listen to me. Yes, he did hurt me and my mother. However, that was mother's doing. She was the one, who pushed my father away, because of what she did to Inuhime. Inuyoukai are family orientated. When a mother refused to take care of her pups, it would make her mate become unattractive to her. He would no longer have anything to do with her sexually. In my father's case, it was unique. His mate had twin pups; one she took care of one and another she abandoned. So, he couldn't give her the proper divorce, but she refused it. Even if he did, she would still refuse to go through with it.. I believed she knew his reasons, but denied herself to the truth. Yes, she loved him. Yes, he loved her, but only in friendship. It was never given a chance to blossom into love."

"Oh. Sesshomaru if Inuhime gave mother a second chance, then you should be able give Inupapa the same courtesy."

Sesshomaru knew what she was saying.

"I know. Yes, I will give him that courtesy.I will stay with you until you are asleep. However if you need anything you could tell me through our connection."

"Alright."

She turned around and they walked to their bed. They cuddled until she was asleep. He sighed. He didn't want to leave, but he gave not only her, but his father his word as well. He would keep his word, even though, he doesn't want to. He sighed again. He got up from their bed; careful not to disturb his lovely mate while she slept. Before he went out of their bedroom, he turned to make a final glance at the room and his mate. Satisfied. He left the room to go to the library.
